The fourth round of matches in the inaugural Moses Kuria Peace Football Tournament will be played this weekend with 33 epic duels scheduled for Saturday 16th March, 2024 across 17 constituencies in the larger Mount Kenya region.
The tournament which is being played in the Mount Kenya region is sponsored by the Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and features teams from 66 constituencies drawn from 11 counties across the region.
At stake is a winner’s grand prize of a whooping Ksh5 million for the winning team in the finals which are planned to be staged on June 2nd, 2024 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
This Saturday, all fixtures are set to kick off at 3:00 PM. Ruiru Constituency will host Kiambaa at Ruiru stadium as Lari play Kiambu Town constituency at Kirenga grounds. Kabete will welcome Limuru at Kanjeru grounds as Kikuyu encounter Githunguri in a match to be played at Gikambura stadium.
In the other matches, at Matenjago stadium, Gatanga will host Kandara as Juja play Maragua at Gachororo primary school grounds. Kigumo entertain Gatundu South at Mairi grounds while Gatundu North play neighbours Thika Town at Nyamathumbi primary school.
At the historic Irura stadium in Murang’a Town, Kiharu will face off with Kangema in another battle of next door neighbours.Mathioya play Mukurwe-ini at Rurii stadium. The team representing Nyeri Town constituency rise up to face Mathira at Ruring’u Stadium in Nyeri while next door, Othaya face of with Tetu at Othaya stadium.
Laikipia North have a date with Ndaragwa at Maramoja grounds as Laikipia East face off with Kieni at Nanyuki stadium. Laikipia play Kipipiri at Wakirogo grounds as Oljororok stadium host a Nyandarua county derby between Oljororok and Olkalou.
To continue with the epic Saturday of football extravanza, Runyenjes play Kinangop at Runyenjes stadium in Embu, Naivasha play Mwea at Kiandege stadium, Kirinyaga Central entertain Manyatta at Kiruguya stadium as Gichugu face Ndia at Karumandi south primary school grounds and Subukia welcome Nakuru town west at Subukia Primary school.
At Bahati stadium in Nakuru, Bahati constituency will have an encounter with Rongai constituency while Gilgil welcome Kuersoi North at Kuresoi stadium. In another battle of immediate neighbours, Njoro will host Molo at Jawatho stadium while Nakuru Town East will entertain Kuresoi South at Kamukunji grounds in Nakuru town.
In matches to be played in the Meru region, Imenti Central invite opponents from Maara at Kariene Primary school grounds as Mbeere south play Buuri at Gachoka stadium. Mbeere North play South Imenti at Kamburu Stadium while the team from Tharaka will host Chuka Igambang’ombe at the Marimanti Kamatungu. Tigania West play Igembe North at Urru Stadium, Tigania East play Isiolo North at Mikinduri Primary school, Imenti North have a date with Igembe South at Meru’s Kinoru Stadium with Isiolo South hosting Igembe Central at the Asalaam Stadium in the final fixture of the day.
The Moses Kuria Peace Football Tournament brings together teams from the 11 Counties of Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nakuru, Meru, Embu, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Tharaka Nithi and Isiolo.
