Business was brought to a halt, and the mood was electric today Friday 19th July 2024 as His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, toured development projects in the south-eastern city of Zomba.

Upon his arrival, President Chakwera, accompanied by First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera, was welcomed at Zomba Main Market by Vice President Right Honourable Dr. Micheal Bizwick Usi, Mayor of the City of Zomba Councillor Christopher Jana, top government officials and Zomba business tycoons.

As he toured the market, President Chakwera purchased a number of commodities as way of empowering the jovial vendors who sang different songs in honour of the first citizen.

From the Main Market, President Chakwera was taken around the magnificent Zomba Stadium where he was briefed about the progress of the project which is nearing completion. Addressing a crowd of people that flocked the stadium to see him,
