Kabambe: I am now UTM member
Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, the former Reserve Bank governor of Malawi, made headlines today as he officially joined the United Transformation Movement (UTM) during an event in Masambanjati, Thyolo district.
This move comes after Kabambe’s departure from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), with the reasons behind his decision remaining undisclosed.
Political analysts have noted that it is his democratic right to switch political allegiances.
The Secretary of UTM, Patricia Kaliati, confirmed that Kabambe is among the more than 300 individuals who joined the party on this day.
Many Malawians have expressed their belief that Kabambe could be a potential candidate to lead UTM, given his considerable following and experience in economic matters.
As of now, the current president of UTM is Michael Biziwick Usi, who also holds the position of vice president of Malawi.
With Kabambe’s entry into the party, there is speculation and anticipation regarding the potential leadership role he may assume within UTM.
The addition of a high-profile figure like Kabambe is expected to shake up the political landscape and potentially bolster UTM’s position in the upcoming elections.
