In its inaugural edition, the Sakaja Super Cup undoubtedly etched its place in Nairobi’s football history as a tournament that transcends the ordinary. Going by the first edition, Sakaja Super Cup was undoubtedly the best off season tournament rising from the meticulous organization of the competition as well as the level of competitiveness, the prize money and the number of the teams that took part.

The tournament was distinct from the usual slew of competitions sponsored by political figures for its unique approach, substantial rewards, and lasting impact on the city’s football landscape.

This financial windfall not only showcased the commitment of Governor Sakaja but also opened doors for emerging players to spotlight their skills and open up their opportunities to secure contracts with more prominent clubs.

In its essence, the Sakaja Super Cup distinguished itself by placing a significant emphasis on upcoming players who had yet to grace the top tiers of league divisions.
