Dr. Mtumbuka says he’s joining politics to bail out Malawians from greedy politicians

UTM Party presidential aspirant, Dr. Matthews Mtumbuka, has declared that his motivation for joining politics was to bail out Malawians from greedy and corrupt politicians.

Speaking in Tiuzeni Zoona Programme, which was aired on Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) on Sunday, Mtumbuka said he is saddened by the levels of poverty among Malawians.

“These social and economic yokes Malawians are forced to shoulder today are a result of corruption and theft of public resources by greedy politicians. If I am voted into power, I will ensure that corruption is dealt with and dealt with decisively because it is derailing the development of this nation,” he said.

Mtumbuka wondered why law enforcement agencies are failing to crack down on politicians who are accumulating wealth overnight, observing that there are some politicians, including Cabinet ministers, who have become overnight billionaires.

On job creation, Dr. Mtumbuka said he will work with international companies to create labs where young people can work and make money.

“I have a proven track record of delivering. Currently, I am employing 80 young people at my company that I established just a year ago. If given the opportunity to lead Malawi, I can create millions of jobs for the youth,” he challenged.

Mtumbuka is expected to face Patricia Kaliati, Newton Kambala, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe and Dr. Michael Usi on the the party’s presidential race at the convention, which is slated for November 9 2024.
