In a new twist, Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has been accused of meddling with the Nairobi county ODM grassroots elections through close associates.

A key honcho in Sakaja’s inner circle former MCA Osman Khalif is said to be at the center in interference with the ODM politics at which current Nairobi ODM chairman Makadara MP George Aladwa enjoys the support of Sakaja and his men.

Another key candidate for the ODM Nairobi chairmanship is Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi who is in a neck to neck race with Aladwa who has been the ODM Nairobi chairman for the last 11 years.

The Makadara law maker is said to largely benefit from the intricacies pulled by the Sakaja team following his role as he is said to have been instrumental in rallying Nairobi County MCAs to work cohesively with Governor Sakaja, despite the UDA party holding a minority in the Nairobi County Assembly.

In return, Governor Sakaja has been working with members of the opposition party ODM having appointed several members of ODM in his administration.
Rosemary Kariuki is currently serving as the County Executive Committee member CECM for Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service while Oscar Omoke, who is Sakaja’s main man in ODM is the Chief officer for Water and Sanitation.

Among other key operatives working with Osman in ODM is former Embakasi North MP aspirant Madam Jane Muthoni who is working day and night to ensure Sakaja’s men infiltrate the ODM elections even as she angles un sitting current MP.

The ODM elections are always high stakes and the entry of Sakaja’s team is seen as an early plot to strategize for 2027. Wanyonyi has already announced plans to run against Sakaja in the governors race and winning the ODM Nairobi seat will give him a rare advantage which Sakaja’s operatives seek to block.
