Giant Killers Bungoma dim Talanta in Mozzart Bet Cup

Football Kenya Premier League side FC Talanta suffered a humiliating 1-0 defeat at the hands of minnows  Bungoma Stars in the biggest shock of the Mozzart Bet Cup round of 32 fixture played today, Saturday, 24th February, 2024.

A solitary goal by Meshack Makokha in the 39th minute made the difference as the Bungoma side shoved off the big boys in the cup fixture to advance into the round of 16.

The underdog surprise of the preliminary round that sent FKF Premier League side Bandari home descended n the Police Sacco Stadium with sheer determination cementing their place as the season giant killers after going for the scalp of FC Talanta with ease.

Compel FC bundled out Kajiado FC getting two goals to nil over their opponents after a quick brace from Simiyu Bramwel who struck in the 52nd and 53rd minutes of the encounter.

 At the Kenyenya Grounds in Kisii County, visitors SS Assad defied the travel blues from Mombasa to beat their hosts Bomachoge Borabu 3-1 for their ticket to the round of 16.

After a goalless first half, SS Assad drew first blood in the 70th minute courtesy of Nyere Hamisi before Dominic Orweya cancelled the visitor’s lead in the 74th minute.

Hamadi Abdallah added a second goal for the Mombasa side in the 85th minute before Augustine Nyabuto scored in his own net to give the visitors a third in the dying minutes of the game.

FKF Premier league side Sofapaka FC bundled out FKF National Super League side Silibwet 5-2 on post match penalties after their match ended on a 2-2 stalemate.

Silibwet were first on the score sheet as Victor Kipkirui struck in the 17th minute Sofapaka’s Baron Ochieng cancelled the Silibwet lead with a fine finish in the 43rd minute  to sent the game all equal at the break.

Stanley Okwemba hit in the 61st minute for Silibwet to restore their lesd but Kalama Andre rescued Batoto ba Mungu with a goal in the 80th minute forcing the match into penalties.

In an all FKF Premier League encounter, Kenya Police saw off Posta Rangers by a solitary goal courtesy of a goal from Clinton Kinanga who converted a cross in the 85th minute.
