The National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Public Trust had disclosed plans to publish a book whose major goal is to reflect on the 2025 General Elections in Malawi.
NICE Executive Director Gray Kalindekafe, in an interview with The Nation newspaper in a story published on Monday, stated that the project will be undertaken in partnership with the Institute for Policy Interaction (IPI) and Political Scientists Association (PSA).

He said the book will also reflect on the requirement of 50 percent or more for the presidency, which will be implemented in the context of the general elections for the first time.
Kalindekafe stated that the planned publication will be called The Malawi 2025 General Elections: New Laws and Systems, Better Outcomes? and editors are associate professor Nandini Patel, d professor Happy Kayuni and Henry Chingaipe.
“Thus, by covering the complete electoral cycle-from pre-election preparations to postelection dispute resolution-the proposed book envisages a holistic investigation that emphasises achievements, vulnerabilities and resilience factors of Malawi’s electoral democracy,” reads the abstracts.
Kalindekafe stated that the re-demarcation of constituencies and wards has increased the number of members of Parliament and councilors.
“This expansion has widened political space, allowing for greater representation. and participation. So, the book will capture all these new elements along with other routine but critical issues,” he explained.
Kalindekafe said the book was expected to be released by mid next year.
In 2022, NICE also published a book titled “Democracy Tested”, which provided compelling analyses of the 2019 general elections and the court-sanctioned fresh presidential polls on June 23 2020.
