Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards head into the elections this Saturday, June 29, 2025. In the elections, Ingwe will be seeking to vote in a new leadership that will help steer the club into the echelons of prosperity.
In the race for the chairman’s position, two top contenders have emerged in what is billed as a two horse race between front runner Enos Mutoka and former national team striker Boniface Ambani.
Enos Mutoka, who is a former club commercial director who launched his manifesto on Thursday leads in the race for the chairmanship. Mutoka stands out as the best candidate for chairman owing to his ability to offer sound managerial leadership to the club.
In the history of AFC Leopards, chairmen have come and gone. Some who helped raise the bar in the club’s leadership, brought it back into competitiveness and uplifted the club’s pedigree. Others took it south.
There was the late Alex Ole Magelo who came and led the club into competing for the league where the team, for two seasons, finished the league in the second position and was able to fight for the FA cup competition.
Predominantly drawing bits support fan base in the western region of Kenya, Magelo, who was from the Masai community changed how club leadership is run.
Then in came Julius Ochiel whose term was marred by leadership wrangles before Dan Mule was voted in as chairman.
Under the leadership of Mule, AFC Leopards regained it’s glow and glory. His management skills saw him propel Ingwe into a competitive team again. After his term, Mike went on to be appointed in the county government of Machakos underscoring his management abilities.
Enos Mutoka as an astute manager, who has led in the club’s financial stability now seeks to bring back the glory days of AFC Leopards.
Just like Ole Magelo and Dan Mule, Enos Mutoka is not a former footballer but a manager who has the capability of winning corporate sponsors.
Mutoka stands out as a well articulate leader whose vision for the club is indeed a defining moment for the team.
