Malawi’s former ruling party, the United Democratic Front (UDF), has condoled President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera and the entire nation over the death of music icon Soldier Lucius Banda.
In a statement shared with us this morning, UDF National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Mwawa, described the death of Banda as a painful loss to the nation.
He said Banda was not only a talented musician, but also a cherished member of the society and a politician with remarkable sense of fortitude.
“His immense and unwavering contribution to the local music industry will always be a beacon of a legacy that will never be forgotten. Through his powerful and fearless lines in music, Lucius conveyed meaningful messages that resonated with people from all walks of life, old and young, promoting unity, love, and social justice,” said Mwawa.
“We convey our most sincere condolences to the State President His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on the loss of an advisor, to the immediate bereaved family, to the music industry fraternity, to UTM and the entire nation. An icon is gone, but he lives on. His message lives on,” he added.
The UDF spokesperson further reminded Malawians that as they mourn the passing on of Soldier Lucius Banda, they should also celebrate his life and lasting memories that he has left behind.
